Now that I have Windows Vista Home Premium installed, is there any hope for my external dvd writer, model HP dvd640e? I did not find a driver on the HP web site. I inserted a dvd movie in the drive and seconds later my PC rebooted itself.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi.
When I play The Sims 2 the sound is distorted and it lags. It really only does it when you scroll around. I updated my video and sound drivers. Any help?
My system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800 2GHz
1GB of Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 Le
Let me know if theres anything else you need to know.
Did you try uninstalling and then reinstalling them?
Edit...your profile says you are running XP home but you have posted this problem in the vista support-is the game actually being played on a vista system?
If so here is a link to sims 2 vista

Yes this is on Windows Vista. This is the first problem I've really had with my computer, so I havent updated my profile yet. Sorry about that.
Thank you for that link.
It said that the nvidia Geforce cards can epxerience stuttering sound and that nvidia is working on it.
That pretty much answered my question right there.
But is there anything that I can do about it in the meantime?
Im not sure whether it works with games but some programs can run in compatability mode which basically means the program runs under an XP scenario
right click on the icon-compatability-tick the box and highlight XP with sp2
as i say, i dont know whether that works with games though
You need to update the game to the latest version then set the compatibility to XP (SP2)..
After i did that ive had no problems with it...
:)
