I just installed PowerChute Personal Edition (the latest-d/l from APC's website just now) and when it tries to start the service, it says "mainserv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close...".
I've redownloaded the file to make sure the d/l wasn't corrupt, I've uninstalled, rebooted then reinstalled (twice). If I try to open the PowerChute app from START-PROGRAMS, it opens and tells me the power source is AC Utility power, but freezes with the hourglass while trying to go further.
The most frustrating this is that I've got the exact same UPS and software running on different pc and it runs beautifully.
WinXP Pro SP2, self-built pc, amd athlon 1.4 processor, 1.5 GB ram, over half hd space available.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
