Hello, I was looking for some help on a problem I've been having with my PC over the last while.
Quite frequently I often get a BSOD which just quickly flashes and my computer restarts. I've tried a few things to try to narrow down the problem but I still have no idea what it could be. I have confirmed that it is hardware related however.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern to these frequent restarts and it's starting to annoy me.
Most people who I asked about this problem all said that it had something to do with my RAM. However I just recently ran a memtest for a night, and after 8 passes through my RAM found no errors at all.
My computer will restart under load or not. Like it's restarted while I was sitting down with Winamp playing some music and I was playing solitaire.. But I can play a game like Quake4 for a while with no problems at all.
To eliminate any software issue I recently backed-up whatever files I wanted to save and did a Low-Level-Format on my HDD to erase any viruses that may have been undetectable. Then I reinstalled Windows XP Professional (SP2) and played some solitaire, after about 10 minutes it BSOD'd and restarted.
My system specs:
AMD Athlon 64: 4000+
2GB Kingston DDR400
ATI Radeon x1800XTX 512MB PCI-e
Seagate Baracuda 400GB SATA-II
MSI Neo-4 Platinum Motherboard
Does anyone have any suggestions?
